Road Tripping USA – Episode 7

  • 7000 km, two months and six US states. In early 2016 I traveled along the American west coast from north to south. This post is part of a series of articles created during this trip.

Wandering aimlessly around the city. You meander through the streets without a certain target in mind. What seems appealing sets the way. The city becomes accessible in a different way and often you explore places and things you would not consider to see there. Los Angeles, February 2016. An industrial area near Downtown at a gutted laundromat. Its history – unknown. When the fire broke out? Hard to say but it must have been a little while ago. The smell of burnt wood, molten plastic and washing powder is in the air. The debris forms abstract sculptures. Some pioneer species wriggle their through the ruin and fill it with life.
